Q. What happens if I do not complete the report in the exam?
A. You are extremely unlikely to pass. You will lose marks in the integration and logic sections for your report quality. It's likely that you will also have missed out the recommendations section (being the last main section) and/or part b. These are vital sections together worth up to 30 marks overall.
Q. I'm struggling for time. If I cut down on any section, which section should that be?
A. Firstly keep calculations down to a minimum. The examiner has said that you can pass even if you do not do calculations. Probably not advisable, but whatever you do, don't spend more than 20 minutes doing calculations as they are simply not worth enough marks in the exam.
If you're going to scimp on any other section, I shudder to say it, but its probably got to be the main body of your report that suffers. Too many marks are available for each of the other sections not to do these properly.
Q. Should I pre-learn my SWOT, PEST analysis, 5 forces and Mendelow's matrix?
A. YES. But you MUST update this for the new information given in the unseen. If no unseen issues are covered, you will lose significant application marks for using these theories.
Q. How important is getting the prioritisation right?
A. Its vital. You must get the examiners top 2 issues in your top 4. If you miss out one of these out you'll almost certainly fail. Its very harsh! When many people find this out start to worry and fret over their prioritisation. A good suggestion is to get a clear prioritisation approach, like that on the prioritisation page. Practise using it so you are very familiar with it, and then trust it. Poor candidates will waste time on prioritisation - time you simply do not have to waste.
